People’s Artist of Russia Chulpan Khamatova is one of the most sought-after actresses on the Russian stage and in movies, author of her own musical and theatrical projects and public figure. A fragile woman whose incredibly strong voice is heard from Kalinin-grad to Vladivostok, whether it be a play or the work of the Give Life foundation.
In the new play Chulpan will lead viewers into the world of the lyrical hero of the poet Yuri Levitan-sky. The poet, who lived in Moscow in the "golden" poetic years, masterfully verse, from more than 20 books, but did not become famous. The creative fate of the Levitan is somehow like the path of Shukshin - few of his contemporaries managed to discern the high content behind the everyday topic. Famous bards sang songs to poems of Levitansky, one of them - “Dialogue at the New Year Tree” - became widely known thanks to the film “Moscow Doesn't Believe in Tears”. A collection of poetic parodies in which the poet retells the plot of the children's counting book “A Bunny Out for a Walk” in the language of his famous colleagues (Yevtushenko, Okudzhava, Akhmadulina, Rozhdestvensky, Marshak) is more evidence of Levitan’s multifaceted talent.
The includes other poems. The infinitely personal and therefore no less eternal experiences of the author - and the author of the poetic lines, and the author of this performance. “I just need to look at everything ...” - the words of the hero of Levitanskaya, who lament about how modern man was wasted with his time, his relatives, with his feelings.
The music performed by Catherine Skanavi, the contemporaney of Vladimir Varnava and the video mapping of “Illuminarium” are not scenery or background, but three independent lines of staging, combined with verses, creating a single living fabric of the performance.
